Chemical Peel @ Premier Clinic

Premier Clinic opened its doors a year plus ago, is an aesthetic clinic with branches strategically located in Bangsar Baru and Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. Licensed by the Malaysia Ministry of Health, Premier Clinic offers an extensive range menu of aesthetic treatments to help you attain your desired perfection in beauty and health. Premier Clinic is equipped with modern technology, advanced machines and credentialed doctors with specialised knowledge in aesthetic medicine to cater for each individual's needs.

I was at Premier Clinic's TTDI branch for a doctor's consultation to see what is the best treatment to treat my oily skin condition with open pores.

The interior is very stylish and cozy and does not feel like a doctor's appointment at all which can be scary sometimes hehe

I met with Dr Elaine Chong for consultation. My oily skin is also dehydrated and therefore to treat my pores and skin condition, she suggested the chemical peel treatment.

Chemical peel is recommended for both men and women and is suitable for all ages. It is typically used to remove the top layers of the skin, and is done by applying a peeling solution to the skin, which causes it to naturally peel off. This removes any dead skin cells on the surface and reveals a fresh layer of skin, which is generally smoother and healthier than previous layers.

Before treatment, a photo to show the 'Before' look for their record purposes.

And then I was prepped for treatment.

My face was first cleansed thoroughly.

Then Dr used alcohol to clean my face for anti bacterial purpose. The alcohol scent was quite strong but it's only a few seconds.

Premier Clinic uses a Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) peel, which is one of the original peels used for skin rejuvenation. Other types of peels are also used depending on the condition of your skin and this will be pre-determined by your doctor after an initial consultation.

The chemical peel was then applied to my skin. There is a slight tingling sensation but it's bearable - this is the solution taking effect on your skin. During this period, a fan device is hovered over my face to blow out cool air, considerably reducing the sting. The solution only lasted 2 minutes on my face before it's washed off. So the entire process took only around 15 minutes. It can be a lunch time procedure with no down time.

There is no visible peeling, which is what I love about this treatment. I don't want to have down time and needing to stay at home because my skin is peeling out LOL

The strength of the peel and its effects can also be increased by applying several layers of the chosen solution but this also depends on your skin type, situation and desired outcome. Dr Elaine chose the solution for my oily skin type and open pores. Regardless of the type of peel, you should notice an improvement after each session.

Thereafter, I had the LED Phototherapy treatment.
Because the chemical peel will dry up my skin due to the harsh chemical, this LED treatment restores the youthfulness of skin. The light penetrates the skin at the right depth and the light wavelengths help to activate cellular functions in the body which speeds up the pace of skin healing and rejuvenation. These functions also help to address several conditions at the same time, meaning that one session could potentially treat a few skin imperfections.

Light therapy is a non-invasive technique and does not cause any pain or discomfort, nor thermal damage. The technology has been successfully utilised by NASA and the NAVY Seals to regenerate muscle and to heal wounds, and studies have shown this treatment to be safe. It triggers the production of fresh collagen and elastin in the skin, which help to form constructive nets that hold the skin cells together, making it tighter and thus reducing large pores significantly.

Similar to the process of photosynthesis, our body needs sunlight in order to form adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is used as fuel for metabolic processes that synthesis essential proteins, enzymes and more. The tissue also uses ATP to catalyse the process of healing and rejuvenation in the specific treatment area.

BEFORE and AFTER pic
If you focus on my forehead, you will see that my blemishes have reduced in the right(AFTER) pic. This is 1 week after treatment. My blackheads have soften and is easier to unclog.

The procedure was fast and easy and you can see results after a few days.

The staffs were also very nice and accommodating and I had a pleasant session in Premier Clinic =)

Thank you Dr Elaine Chong! I cannot imagine a doctor who is so sweet and soft spoken but at the same time, she's experienced and professional =)
